The Ice bowl is the Wabash Disc Golf Club's annual charity fundraiser supporting the Food Finders Food Bank in Lafayette. Food Finders is Lafayette's local food bank. It is Food Finders' mission to help families in need by providing nutritious food to help see them through hard times. January is traditionally a time of lower than usual donations. However, the need for food in our community is just as great and we intend to help them keep their pantries full! Our fundraising goals for this year are $500.00 and 100 lbs or food, though our unofficial goal is double those amounts.
The Wabash Ice Bowl will be one round of 22 holes at Murdock Park. Mulligans will be available for purchase during the event for $1.00 each. Buy as many as you want at any time during the round. We will have trophies for 1st - 3rd place, as well as having special trophies for Most Mulligans and Most Food Donated. These are the same beautiful clear acrylic "Ice" trophies that we gave out last last year.
Registration is $10.00 plus a MINIMUM of 5 cans of food (please, canned goods only!) 50% of registration will go to payouts and 50% to charity.

Ice Bowl licensed merchandise will be available for pre-order, with a small selection available the day of the event. Watch the Wabash DGC Website at wabashdiscgolf.com for a list of items available and to get a look at the 2012 Ice Bowl logo that will be featured on the merchandise. If you know you want an item, then please consider contacting Steve and letting him know so he can put it down as a pre-order. No pre-payment is required, just pick your merchandise up at the event. Please note that 100% of the profits on the Ice Bowl Merchandise will be donated to Food Finders.

WDGC Club Championships are Coming
The WDGC would like to announce the 2011 Club Championships! Saturday, Nov 19th at Murdock Park. The event is free for all current Club members. Players must arrive by 9:30am, Club meeting at 9:45am and a first round tee-off at 10:00am. This year's championship will be a double-elimination match-play format. Here's the deal: Players will be ranked according to their end of the year bag tag numbers with the lowest numbered tags receiving any available first round byes. During each round every player will be paired against another club member in a 6 hole match play competition. When a player loses a match he/she is placed into the losers' bracket. When a player loses a 2nd match he/she is eliminated. If you're unfamiliar with match play: A player scores 1 point for each hole in which they use fewer throws than their opponent (no matter how many strokes he wins the hole by). Neither player scores a point on a hole if they tie that hole. Should competitors be tied after 6 holes they will hold up to 2 playoff holes to determine a winner. If a player wins the first playoff hole the match is over. If there is no winner after the 2 playoff holes a winner will be decided with a single CTP throw. There will be a custom dyed disc from Niced Guy Discs as a prize for this year's Club Champion! There will be about 6 rounds total required to determine a winner with a 30 minute break after the 3rd round so players have some time for lunch (lunch will not be provided so bring your lunch boxes). Get out there for the last Club event of the year and cheer on all the players!
Murdock Haunted Glow
The WDGC would like to announce a very special Halloween themed Glow Random Doubles event. Friday, Oct 28 at Murdock Park with a tee-off time of 8:00pm. Cost is $5 with an optional $1 Ace Fund. Glow discs, LED lights, and glow sticks will be available for purchase from the Club. At 7:30 there will be a costume contest for all players with a prize of a Halloween themed custom dyed disc from Niced Guy Discs for the winner! There will also be a pre-glow cookout in the Murdock Shelter at 7:00pm. Cost for the cookout is $2 + a side dish to share. Let Steve Preischel (phollower at gmail dot com) know if you'll be attending the cookout and what side you'll be bringing so we can have enough grilling items and food. So let's see your best costumes and light up Murdock Park!
Big Ace Chili Race Results
A big congratulations to the WDGC's own Steve Chino who won the Discraft 2011 Ace Race with 4 Aces and 7 Metal Hits. Nicely done.
In a related note, Scuba Steve won the first ever Chili Cookoff with a tasty smoked turkey chili.
