The
tournament
schedule now has club events listed for the next
few months. In march, we will be having the Club
Kick-Off. This event will mark the beginning of
the WDGC season and will begin our membership
drive. See the tournament
schedule for more details.
Next
will be the First Annual
Boy Scout Open. This will be the firstPDGA
sanctioned (C-Tier) event at the new Eagle Scout
DGC at Camp Collum. Amateurs will play on Saturday
and Pros will play on Sunday. This is going to be
the club's biggest annual event, so please register
early! For more info, see the tournament
schedule.
Then
in May, we will have Memorial
Day Doubles. And in June, we are going to be doing
Firefly Glow Golf at Ross
Hills! We hope to have at least one special event
every calendar month all summer long, so for all of
the information on these and other events, be sure
to check in on the tournament
schedule regularly!
We
are also beginning to plan on beginning he weekly
leagues. Be sure to check the league
schedule for more details.
We
have officially begun this year's membership
drive! Be sure to sign up ASAP. Membership helps grow
the sport locally and gives members nice benefits.
See the membership page
for more details. Note, however, that if you are playing
the Club Kick-Off event,
then your membership dues are included in your tournament
registration!
The
web site now has a message
board and a photo
gallery. Be sure to sign up and have a look around!
I will continue to update and expand the new web site
as we go on through Spring and into Summer. |

The
1st Annual Wabash Ice Bowl was a big sucess! Our goal
was to raise $400.00 and 40 cans of food for the Food
Finders Food Bank. Instead, we managed to raise $500.00
and over 50 cans of food! Well done, WDGC. We will
be making a formal visit to turn in the funds and
food sometime this week and will hopefully have a
photo to post after then.
Not
only did we manage to help feed families in need,
we also were able to generate some very positive PR.
The Journal & Courier ran a story on us in the
Sunday, January 31st edition! We were on the front
page of the local section. In case you didn't see
the story, here is a link
to an online version. There is also a photo gallery
on the JC website which you can see
here. Also, here are some stats (for those of
you who enjoy such things):

- Also,
big thanks to my wife, Dr. Kazumi Chino, for the
donation of all the merchandise and food for this
event.
- Thanks
also to Jeremy J and Mike L for helping arrange
and organize this event.
I
should make a brief apology to everyone who was expecting
this Ice Bowl update earlier. I have been very sick
the last week and I am still on the mend.
Also,
I should note that I still have a small selection
of Ice Bowl merchandise available for sale. I will
gladly provide a list of what is available to anyone
who asks. Drop
me an email for a copy of the list. chickenpuppet
AT msn DOT com. I have a couple of long sleeve tees
and several discs.
Finally,
progress has been slow on working on this new site,
but I should have a fully functional version up and
ready before the spring reopening of the local courses.
I will note all updates and additions here as I make
progress. |
